Basically, acne takes two forms - the inflammatory (pimples) and non-inflammatory form (whiteheads and blackheads). And for which ever cases, the market has a lot of available acne treatments, even on the internet.

The first thing that you may need to do is to clean up your clogged skin pores, as clogging is the main cause of acne formation. You can do this using Salicylic acid - this will release the clogged material inside the pores because it can soften the structural protein that makes up our outer skin (called keratin), but since this will make your skin sensitive to sunlight, you must use sunblock at the same time, and as much as possible, do not exfoliate your skin too much because it will not only result in skin irritation but it also creates additional dead skin cells (which will then add up to the clog).

Aside from the oil and dead skin cells, the clogs also compose of the bacteria that intensifies acne. So after exfoliating, use a cream or a soap that contains benzoyl peroxide (twice per day). Benzoyl peroxide can cause skin irritation that leads to dryness and redness, so you must supplement it with moisturizer. On the other hand, essential oils are very helpful in killing the bacteria. These oils are easily absorbed by the skin and aside from killing the bacteria, they can also dissolve the sebum and preserves the acid mantle of the skin. These oils may cause dryness of skin, so you should dilute these with Grapeseed oil or V6 Oil Complex.

When deciding on what oil to use, take into consideration the type of your skin and your acne condition. And most importantly, maintain one particular routine only, because treating acne usually takes a long time.

This skin condition is not easily cured in just a blink of an eye. The above mentioned acne treatments and all other medications work over a long period of time. Careful application is highly recommended, because these might harm your skin if not done correctly!
