Homemade acne treatments are the source of much controversy these days. Too many people are suggesting outrageous (and frankly, made up) homemade acne treatments and are taking advantage of people with wild promises and unsubstantiated claims. So, let's get this clear straight away and bust a few myths about home made acne treatments.
#1 - Sleeping with ANYTHING under your pillow will not do anything for your acne. No matter what it is. Nothing that is under your pillow can affect your acne. There's simply no science there. Science, by the way, is behind all the home made acne treatments that I recommend - they may be natural and homemade, but that doesn't mean they're hocus pocus and randomly made up.
#2 - Hanging bags of stuff around your neck, will not do anything for your acne. I don't know where this one came from, but apparently hanging a bag of particular herbs around your neck will cure your acne. Homemade acne treatments aren't magic - you don't need bags of herbs, bats ears, cats tails or spells to cure your acne.
#3 - Making potions containing all sorts of rubbish will (probably) not do anything for your acne. This one is a bit hit and miss - it'll either do nothing, or it'll probably make it worse. Vinegar, olive oil, herbs, orange juice, green tea.. the list goes on. None of these things will help if you rub them on your face. The only thing that'll happen is you might smell a bit funny for a few days.
Real homemade acne treatments aren't about odd behavior in the home. They're about taking natural principles of diet and healthy wellbeing and applying them to your lifestyle. Over short periods of time, people have seen remarkable results from these types of acne treatment, with some being completely cured in as little as 3 days.
In a nutshell, here's what I'm talking about: eat properly, drink plenty of water, shower at least once a day and wash your face with a natural soap twice a day. Eating properly is probably the most important part: don't eat too much, and avoid large amounts of high-fat or high-sugar foods. Cut out fizzy drinks, and replace any sugary snacks with fresh fruit and vegetables. Make sure you get five portions of fruit and veg a day, and do plenty of exercise. At least 30 minutes at least 3 times a week.
If nothing else, the upshot of all this is that you'll be fitter, healthier, feel better and won't care as much about your acne. Plus, there's a good chance if you stick with it, that you're acne will be cured anyway.
