For treatment of any disease or disorder we need to deliver the medicine to the place where the case is occurring. Till few years back acne treatments were delivered to site of acne with topical, oral and injections. Now we have the choice of using acne pads to deliver the treatment.

How are acne pads better than other treatments? Are acne pads effective? How to use acne pads? Let us look at these questions. Before that let us talk about the cause of acne. Acne is caused by

The blocking of the follicle pore

Presence of bacterium P.acnes inside the follicle and

Excess sebum production.

Not every medicine treats all these causes. Let us talk about Salicylic Acid as most of the acne pads have Salicylic Acid as an ingredient to treat.

Salicylic acid is a Beta Hydroxy acid. Salicylic acid is used to soften the thick and scaly skin. Salicylic acid softens the keratin, which is the primary protein that forms skin, hair and nails. By breaking down keratin, salicylic acid makes it easy to remove unwanted skin. Thus it opens the blocked pores of the follicle and treats acne.

Till now the active ingredients such as Salicylic acid were formulated in creams, gels and washes. Now they are added to pads. To use acne pads-

Clean the skin thoroughly.

Wipe the entire affected area with the pad.

Begin with one application daily, and then gradually increase to two to three times daily if needed. Excessive Salicylic acid can dry the skin.

In case of peeling, red skin or itching stop usage.

Keep pad away from eyes, lips and other mucous membranes.

Acne pads are easy to use and spread the medication properly over the skin area.
